Regarding a 20 year old, 1,800 Sq. ft. house (wood framed) in B.C., Canada which has a gas-fired water baseboard heating system.

What are the energy saving advantages and disadvantages of changing the existing water heat system to an electric baseboard heating system (disregarding the required initial investment in material and labor costs)?

Hi EKO, My family & I live in the UK & we have had Solar Heating panels fitted to our roof ,heated water is piped to a large tank which is also connected to the Gas boiler. We had it installed in March of this year & have found a great saving in Gas consumption. Hope this is of some help to you,Ron.
