Not sure if this is the right site but I will ask anyway. I am going to a wedding at the end of the month. I think I am going to wear a beige dress suit but it just looks so drab.! I am looking for ideas how I can "dress it up" a bit. it is just a shift dress, sleeveless with a jacket, one toggle and stand up collar. I have beige shoes to match. What can I add to it to make it look better.? I know a lot of you on here have some very good answers. Many thanks

You could wear a black belt and accessorise nicely, maybe a scarf wrong your neck as well and you can by flower type corsage like broaches which can add a spash of colour.

Maybe go for everything else black to offset the beige?

Maybe black chunkier jewellery like beads.

You could also put the flower in your hair ir a pretty clip or similar to add some more colour and even wear patterned tights if they go.
i would add turquoise accesories, knecklace, ring, bangle, or i bet orange would look nice too
Claret colurs go well with beige. I don't suppose you want to get new shoes now but I'd probably dress something like this up with claret shoes, beaded necklace and bag. Mind you, I'm quite boring and don't like lots of accessories and virtually never wear jewellry.
Accessorize is the way to go. Personally I would invest in new shoes and , as china doll says, claret goes very well with beige. So shoes, handbag, bracelet, necklace, earrings etc.
I have been working (and living!) with girls for too long - I was going to post an answer about accessorising in black or nice dark green.

I think I need to get in touch with my masculine side!
I would say Navy goes well with beige - I was going to say a nice chunky necklace, but you said the jacket has a stand up collar. You could go with the necklace and leave the jacket undone - or leave the jacket off entirely.

I would say necklace, matching earrings and if you are a hat person then accessorise with that.

If you leave the jacket off - then buy one of those shawl type scarves and drape it over one shoulder and fasten with a brooch.

Good luck

I'd go for red as a contrast and to liven it up.scarf, bangles, bag and one of those hair accessories with feathers or spikey bits.

Red tights or stockings to match the rest.

I would take your dress with you and go into some shops that sell belts, beads, jewelery etc.
You could get a nice hat too.
It will look fabulous ! x

Many thanks for all your ideas I will go shopping at the weekend and see what I can get.
I have no idea why I bought it really, not my usual colour.haha but I though it looked smart.
Beige? Oh dear, well never mind, any colour goes with beige but to avoid looking more mature than your years avoid navy and brown.

Try strong summer coordinating shades but don't go for too much frill, just basics with simple lines as it does sound like a little 60s ensemble which would be fine with black patent court shoes and matching black patent clutch bag, but that would not be very bright for a wedding unless you added a bright pink large brimmed hat with a black ribbon around the crown.
2 pashminas the same, patterned or plain. One sewn to hem edge with fringe hanging loose at side. Other just hanging from neck. Good look if over size 12.
