Hello, I posted a question last week asking some info about pain in my ankle after having ORIF surgery. I was at the hospital yesturday and the surgeon has decided to remove al the metal work from my ankle, I understand this is pretty straight forward and a quick procedure?!. Has anyone had this done, what was the recovery like? The surgeon is going to go through the same scars from the first surgery which is an advantage. He did say I would be weight bearing straight away but I didn't think to ask if I would would be weight bearing with crutches or not, I remember the pain and brusing from the first surgery being an absolute nightmare. I am not entitled to any more sick pay due to my being unable to work for so long form the accident so I am eager to get back a.s.a.p after. So have you had this done? Can you tell me how it was for you? Thanks.

Also I forgot to ask did you find your range of movement improved after the removal of the metalwork? After 5 months I am still struggling working/walking due to pain and stiffness - the joint doesnt move well at all. Im hoping it will improve after.
