Do you notice or hear how ofter players or managers or commentators say getting something from the game .Well if they are being positive that means a win or at least a draw .So why do they say something from the game perhaps with two choices could they not name them .What do they want from a game a horse .leather suite cuddly toy .

well it depends what sport, but comming from a manager it's general statement of intent to not lose the game but in the case of Rugby Union for example there are several ways to get points even by losing. It's a lot easier to say they want to achieve something rather than to speculate about all the possible outcomes.
