Does anyone know of a website where I can send a photo of some silver hallmarks on a spoon.

I have found lots of websites with hallmarks on but am unable to identify them for sure.

They may be silver plate but again I'm not sure!

thanks

Your local reference library will have a dictionary of hallmarks.
Sometimes, if you phone your local museum, someone there may be willing to identify the hallmark for you, but not give any valuation.
Hi there,
Silverplate does not have Hallmarks, only Solid Silver does.
Silverplate will have the makers initials (sometimes) and usually EPNS,for Electro Plated Nickel Silver.
This site list (nearly all) Silver Hallmarks. If you can't see yours, click on the assay office names (at bottom) and look there.

Apologies, but I think (contrary to what I said) that that site only shows London Hallmarks, but that might be a help?
PS:~
What you have MAY be Solid Silver, but if Continentall or American wouldn't have hallmarks as such.
Can you say in words what the marks look like?

Thanks for the info. I have since asked a local antiques dealer who said that they were silver plate so I have now listed them on ebay.

The link is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte m&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=250362594757

if you do happen to know any more I would be grateful.

thanks
Oh well, I am glad you found out.
Good Luck with your auction.
i think these are from the 1920s, my grandma was married in 1921 and had a set for a wedding present. i still have one of them.
Your spoons were made by Elkington & Co, and are silver plate, and are likely to be of best quality. Read more about them here. (Scroll down).
