I have just had a new kitchen fitted and having used the gas cooker for the first time, found that the work top either side of the cooker got very hot. Does anyone know if there should be some form of heat shield fitted to stop this from happening and if there are any regulations stating what the rules are for the fitting of such heat shields..
I would like this information prior to contacting the company who fitted the kitchen so as not to be filled with any garbage from them.
Thanks in advance

Good morning. I have fitted about 10 kitchens during my self employed period.

I presume the cooker is free standing.

How tight a fit is the cooker in the gap, is the gap 600 mm as standard.

How have the ends of the top abutting the cooker been covered, Stick on strips or metal trim.

I doubt there are regulations, recommendations maybe.
