does any person know of a history site that if you type in a year it will tell you what events happend in that year

If you click here, you will find a site that does what you ask a month at a time. For example, on the opening page, which is set at January 1960, if you click on 'Show events' and scroll down to the bottom half of the page, you will find many things that happened during that month.
The site has a strong American bias, but other world events are also recorded, including the fact that, on the 28th, the very last episode of The Goon Show was broadcast!
wikipedia is also quite good and will give you some good facts when you search on a year,

as well as famous births and deaths relating to that year
wikipedia will tell you
