Doesn't seem to be a "what", but rather, it means to wait or awaiting in Hiligaynon dialect, spoken in small are of Phillipines... may be some other meaning as yet undiscovered by me...

Is that one hulat, or Three Hulats?

I imagine Lodekka is referring to 'The Three Hulats', a pub in Chapel Allerton in West Yorkshire. The word, as such, is not listed in The Oxford English Dictionary, so it is certainly not a standard English word.

When this question was asked before here on AnswerBank, I suggested it might actually be a mis-spelling of 'hulans'. 'Hulan' is an alternative version of 'uhlan', which means a Polish lancer. Could the pub name, therefore, be 'The Three Lancers' along much the same lines as 'The Three Musketeers'?

Why not phone the pub and ask the landlord?
