When something is really good is it 'top draw' (as in top box office draw) or 'top drawer' (as in higher than the others)?

Top Drawer, but not due to relative elevation but rather due to enhanced capability with a pencil.
I'm not sure whether Simon is just joking above, but the 'drawer' is definitely a reference to the box-things you find in a chest of drawers and the 'top drawer' is the topmost one of them. The suggestion is that it is 'of the highest level' when used figuratively, often employed to put people in a social class..."Top drawer families send their sons to Eton and Harrow, don't ye know."
