we have removed a eucalyptus tree from a neighbours garden as it was very close to our property and we are having a new extension built. Now it is removed the tree from the base if any roots are left underground will they continue to grow and cause a problem?

Shouldn't be a problem although i would drill a hole in the top of the existing stump and pour some neat round-up down there. Make sure the weather's dry when you do it.

I'd do the above purely as a precaution as Eucalyptus can sprout from the base of trunks.
