Hi I am a mature woman, never been in trouble with the police until last August.Everyone has arguments some time so I don't think I am different,I had a argument with 2 Somalian women last August it got a bit heated and there was a bit of swearing on my part there was a bit of shoving on both sides.I got pushed to stop myself from falling back I grabbed her veil or whatever its called and they said it ripped. The next thing I knew there was about 20 other Somalian women ranting,so what did I do argue back with them, police came and one came behind me and grabbed my arm at the time I didnt know it was a copper,my reflexies kicked in I threw my arm back and caught the copper I apologised straight away, then he said I was nicked. When I got to station they said I was going 2 b charged for Racial assault & hitting copper.I got bail, went back when I was due,the copper said he had to sort statements out and that he would be in touch within the next two weeks,I was released without bail and went home.I never heard anything back and I felt relieved.that was until this Monday when the police came & charged me.The thing is the copper that charged me this time isnt the same one as before,he said he has taken over the case as the other one is on leave, but this cop now wasnt even there so he can only go by notes, and then they tell me its 3 charges not 2,thats 2 racial 1 for words & 1 for assault and the 3rd for hitting the copper. Why has it took this long and why havent any of the Somalian women got charged like me,I am court next wednesday which I thought was a bit quick,I cant eat or sleep properly with the worry,People are saying there hard at court on racialist charges I am crapping myself.Does anyone have any idea of what the outcome will or might be,I cant see my solicitor till the day before court I am just making myself ill over it.Thank you for taking the time to read this and the longness of it, I needed to get a bit of my chest so thank you. csi-grissum

I feel for you , I wish I could help , I reckon its best that you explain yourself to the magistrate , you got into an argument , they were ranting and shouting at you in a strange language then they surrounded you , next thing a person grabbed you , you felt you were being attacked and lashed out , seeing it was a policeman you immediately apologized for this but was frightened for your safety after a gang were ranting and you felt for your own safety .

best of luck with this , Its easy for me to say don't worry , its hardly the crime of the century , put it into context , if you are of good character and get this point across then don't worry , the worse they can do is slap your wrist and give you a small fine ... let us know how it turns out please.....
Just tell your own account of what happend honestly and if I was you I wouldn't say the group were ranting & shouting at you in a 'strange language' as tufty7 has explained as it may appear to the judge you are mocking others culture! Another language should'nt be classed as 'strange' as this may give out the sign of intolerence of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Comments like that there is Racial Tension In This Country which will Turn Into A Civil War will only cause THAT themselves with their views especially voting for BNP!
If you are an educated person which I'm sure you are
csi-grissum, then you will appreciate that in this day & age their will be individuals who come/live in this country who you will come across that will not be like you & you may have misunderstandings with them which needs to be addressed appropriately so that you can learn from others & their differences and vice versa....

All the best & good luck - you'll be fine
If Somalian women were still in Somalia, this wouldn't have happened would it? And before anyone says something to the contrary, I have no prejudices whatever, except to say that if we all stayed where we belonged there would be no racial tension, half of the wars in the world wouldn't have happened and we'd all be at peace perhaps. Remember this, because of America's determination to protect their oil scources, they're always where they shouldn't be and 911 and the like are the penalties we all pay for it. I have some great friends abroad by the way!
fagidill, there are plenty of people who are proud to be british, whom I expect don't fit into your idea of british.

You sound like the stupid kids in the playground at school in the 70's and 80's who thought they were NF through and through but were just ignorant dim wits.
Crikey...i really feel for you.

I'm no law person by a long chalk but if it was me, i'd plead guilty to assulting the officer and stronly deny both the racial charges.

Good luck next wednesday, let us know how you get on.
tell it like it was tell the truth DONT MENTION STRANGE RANTING.

Keep it simple express great sorry, and that you didnt know it was a copper you thought someone was grabbing you.

I am sure you will be ok

Good luck, PLEASE let us know what happend
