Look in your local Yellow Pages for a Wasp Control man/woman.

We had a nest, along came the man, sprayed them, and took away the nest. I asked if they'd come back and he said no.
Much to our hospitality, the workers came back... and started re-building even though the Queen had been killed.

The man came back and finished the job. No charge 2nd time round.

The initial cost was 25.00.

Good Luck.

Hehe- hiya Beryl, hope you're well xxxxx

sorrywelshwil
you could try spraying fly spray in the gap. use loads so it makes a gunge that will stick to the wasps and they take it into the nest. then shut your window quick.and wait and see. maybe best to do it on a cold dark evening so they aren't inclined to fly about.
If you can stand them till they die off they will never come back. I had one a couple of years ago (in the same place) and left it (but watched my dog when he was in the garden) and they just went.
I do have to say though I have no youngsters running around
