Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all well.

My friends are trying to arrange a 'Baby Shower' for me and want me to write a brief list of ideas on what they can get me/the baby.

I dont expect them to buy anything to pricey or big - mainly things that will come in handy once our little girl arrives!

So far redcrx has given me a good few things to add to the list - so this is what i have so far....

* Baby bouncer or rocker

*Steriliser

*Baby monitor

*Bottles

*Clothes

Any more ideas you can help me with???

Any of you had a Baby SHower yourself? Did u have a theme and turn it into a little party??? My friends want to do an 80s cocktail style theme!?! (non alcoholic cocktails btw!lol) - is this normal or are they just insane??

Thanks for the warning - i'll warn Daddy!! I might purchase some flannels and muslin thingamebobs... just to be on the safe side!
Heh heh nat ~ you might want to make yourself a burkha!

lmao!! Sod the bloody Muslin i'm gonna MAKE a homemade BURKHA!!
Nat I didn't have a baby shower but my little boy is nearly 2 weeks old now and from personal experiences, unless you don' know anyone with kid, you will be given loads of baby clothes. My husband and I didn't buy anything apart from th outift he let hospital in.
The muslin clothes have been brilliant but I also thought they were a bit expensive for what they are. Luckily my sister in law gave me some and a lady who used them for nappies also gave me about 5 or 6. They are great for mopping up dribble, absorbing milk from leaky boobs when feeding, putting on the changing mat to save the cold shock on baby's bare bum and for using as a light cover for baby. Because they are thin they can be washed and dry really quickly.
A work colleague had a baby shower and me and some mates made her a voucher book with things like "one night of babysitting" "on Indian Head massge" and "I promie to do your ironing" she absolutely loved it as it as for her rather than baby and she is still holding us to some of the vouchers!
Have fun at your party!
I just remembered what else I used my muslin squares for...

Covering up the front of the pram hood to shield baby from the sun, and covering by boob and bubbas face when I breastfed in public!

Thanks helliebobs - hopefully my friends won't all buy me clothes - they've asked for me to write a list of things - so exactly that doesnt happen! But i understand that some baby clothes are irresistable!!! (because i cant help myself at times!)

The voucher book is a great idea... may have to suggest that one.... lol. My collegue at work also said that sometimes its nice to have someone help you (the mother) rather than shower you with baby gifts....
