My 16 year old son has been suffering from bad acne for over a year. He has tried panoxyl aquagel, stemycin, retin -a gel and taken 2 cources of minocin tabs but with no success. He is so self conscious about his face is that he avoids all mirrors and recently got a mini panic attack on holiday when he was in a shop with lots of mirrors. Most treatments he has tried just make his skin redder and hard to touch. His spots bleed at night and his pillow is usually dotted in blood. He is waiting for an appointment with a dermatologist but needs something to help right now. Help!

Belive it or not toothpaste is excellent at clearing spots and acne. Your usual normal white stuff.
When I was at senior school (73-78) there was a good mate of mine who had terrible acne (pitted skin and lots of spots etc.)
His skin seemed to clear up really quickly (almost overnight) and when I asked him about it he said that the doctor had prescribed him "sulphur powder." I don't know how he administered it but it really did the trick.
I really hope this helps.
i suffered from bad skin as a teenager and the doctor prescribed me a cream called QUINODERM and it did the trick (and also bleached many towels and pillowcases!) worth a try x
There are many reasons for acne. The beauty products for preventing acne available in market can cause harmful effects on your skin. Some good home remedies for acne are at http://improveyourlivingstyle.blogspot.com/200 7/02/acne-cause-and-treatment.html
