Does anyone know of a tried and tested way to remove candle wax from a cotton top? someone knocked a candle over and I got splashed last night, and have white candle wax all over a brand new (and fairly expensive) black cotton jersey top. I have picked the hard wax off, but am now left with a white residue. Help please!!

Many thanks (also posted this in Body and Soul as didn't know where it should go!)

Scrape off what you can then using brown paper shiny side up and press it with a warm iron. This melts the wax which soaks into the paper. You will probably have to repeat a few times.

thank you - I'll give this a go!
If that fails, then hot water will melt it and if the item is submerged with the waxy area uppermost until the water is cold then the solidified wax can be floated off and garment retrieved. Tolerance of the hot water should be established first. May require repeat attempts.
