My father is elderly 88 years old and has a infrequent accident of incontinence. There is an electric blanket on his bed which he likes to have on all night at a very low setting. (The blanket has a setting for this- 12hr). There is a mattress protector over this which is waterproof. I have connected a rcd circuit breaker between plug and wall socket to improve safety. Can anyone tell me if this rcd circuit breaker (commonly used with power tools) prevents electrocution completely if liquid were to be spilled on the blanket.? Thanks for reading.

Raysparx1 will know - follow his advice - he's usually on here most days.
Basically, yes, the RCD should cut the supply almost instantaneously on liquid spillage that actually penetrated to the heating element (which is quite unlikely anyway as it will be electrically insulated). Test the RCD regularly with its test button to confirm operation. Cheers, Andy
