got a problem with central locking on 2001 focus, anyone else experienced problems?

Intermittent locking of the system. Sometimes the key works, sometimes not. Tried new batteries, no difference. The doors will lock and then immediately unlock. Even if trying it with the key in the slot, doors will still lock then immediately unlock.

Sounds like a problem with a sensor somewhere, im sure i had this problem once and it tuned out to be the bonnet switch thinking it was open when it wasnt.
