Finger-Nails Splitting: Advised Tea Tree Oil. But Label Cautions Epileptics. Why?

Suffering years of splitting finger-nails and having tried countless treatments, the person who advised Tea Tree Oil knew I am epileptic.
With the label cautioning epileptics, I am wondering -- in advance of seeing my neurologist next week -- just how TTO can have a negative affect on those with this illness and whether certain precautions could facilitate applying this to finger-nails with no fear of problems with medication (which?!).
Any assistance on this would be appreciated.
Thank you.

It's not just tea tree oil which can cause problems, there are about half a dozen herbs/essential oils which are not recommended as they can cause seizures in some people who have epilepsy.
Google 'tea tree oil epilepsy' and you can read about it.
Try olive oil instead.

I started using it years ago when I had terrible peeling, splitting and flaking nails. It worked wonders.
Pasta; Just ordered some, thanks for recommendation :0)
At my age my nails no longer seem to be of normal strength. Whenever I've had a furtive look are the chemist's (this stuff is always in the women's aisle) all that seems to be there are nail varnish type stuff. Seriously, you rub oil in them for a cure ? I've got some 5W30 around somewhere.

and it has been marvellously effective, I have one nail which has tended to split for years as the result of damage to that finger. I have been using it daily for less than a fortnight and it has already worked. I smear it on all my nails and they look much healthier
It came by the way, surprisingly from New Jersey !
Thank you.

Pasta..can see a difference already ! not neighing yet ;0)
Oohhh wow! I'm really happy you've both had such good results. I need to start using it again on my full nails...gel polish has damaged them.
I hope gl556tr sees this.
Pasta....interesting you say gel polish has damaged your nails...

I loved the look of my gelled nails.......but heavens did it damage them....
I went from having strong, healthy nails to them breaking and flaking....have ordered some of this....thank you...x
Pasta; I'm now such an enthusiast I'm considering using it on my toe-nails, and there's nothing even wrong with them ! :0)
I have ordered some too - I swim a lot and the chlorine really takes its toll on my nails
