Yes - it's Italian

Question Author
I know that, but didn't expect it to all be subtitled. How odd lol
It was made in Italy so it's all subtitled - like the scandi noir series
Of course, they weren't made in Italy but you know what I mean :-)
no sweet one
you dont have to read the subtitles if you understand Italian

Sicilian dialect is looked on the same as we look on the liverpool accent
The octopus is burning!
Smowball; You have to face a serious challenge here, either listen to the Italian and understand it or read the subtitles.
Probably couldn't afford to get it dubbed.
Peter
It is not Sicilian dialect. It is Italian.
Question Author
I think reading the subtitles is probably quicker than leading a new language : )
How else would you understand what was going on if they didn't have subtitles? Unless you speak the same language as the people in the programme, of course.
I watched the Scandi version of Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. I was gutted to find that it was all subtitled but after 30 seconds I was totally engrossed.
We've just finished watching "Valkyrien" (Walter Presents on All4)....in Norwegian with subtitles. I'd have hated it if it had been dubbed...much prefer subtitles (as all Walter Presents are).
Incidentally....highly recommended. Here's a review....

in the books, Catarella has a Sicilian accent, but Montalbano spent much of his life on the mainland until he was sent back to Vigata. The latest series was taken from Camilleri's short stories.
