I'm happy with Samsung. I'd avoid Apple like the plague.
I'm happy with my iPhone. I'd avoid android like the plague.
Sorted :-)
To get a meaningful recommendation, you need to say what you intend to do with it and what you expect it to do. You might want to just make/receive calls and send/receive texts (unlikely) or have full "smart" functionality...and take lots of photos etc.
Assuming the latter, the Motorola Moto G4 is your best budget option....good screen, excellent camera, 13-hour battery and decent performance and within your budget.

I had a Samsung given to me and hated it. So I'm going back to an iPhone. You can get a good refurbished one from these people within your budget.

I presently own a Nokia Lumia 630:-/
It keeps crashing when on a busy site, such as this one.
The Motorola looks like the one I'm looking for.
Thanks for all of your replies.
Recently bought thru Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation Very impressed & well satisfied.
I have answered many similar questions over the years.....just get an iPhone....its as simple as that.

It will just what it say on the can.
I love my OnePlus 3T, far better than any iPhone, in my opinion, and much cheaper.

Unlike you Mikey :-)
@ zac "I'm happy with my iPhone. I'd avoid android like the plague".
why?
iPhones just do everything very intuitively, without any fuss and bother. The system is easy to understand and after all, Iphones were the first "smart" phone.

( I think ! )
Bought a samsung galaxy couple of years ago never looked back best phone I've ever had ...when deciding what phone I wanted google iPhone v samsung ..the latter came out well on top of reviews and they weren't wrong
Android is a lot easier to use in many respects, mikey - and intuitive. Very easy to switch between open apps and have split screen with 2 apps open side by side, very easy to sync with my pc.

The iPhone was a long way from being the first smartphone
Bernie....I guess its what you are used to. I have had an iPhone since the 1st one came out, and I wouldn't really want have to learn how to use anything new again.

Samsung seem to be built well enough, if the experience of some of my family is anything to go by.

By the way, we call anybody that uses an Android system as "going over to the dark side " !
We android users say that about iPhone users.
all about choices mikey so many phones out there

I've decided to buy the Moto G5. The fun and games will begin when I transfer the data from my old phone. Even more fun and games when I try to use the damn thing:-)
