In their latest interview about the loss of their mum, Prince William and Harry blame the paparazzi for taking photos of Di in the crashed car rather than helping her. I wonder if that's the explanation they were given at the time, rather than the drunk driver going too fast....or Di being deliberately bumped off. Do you think it was an accident or murder?

TTT - you said cut and shut which is different to a CAT B write off.

No..I didn't read the link. I don't think her death was murder so I'm not going to bother.
mally j certain people on here love to gossip!!
Completely agree with MallyJ @ 9.24.
It’s sad when anyone dies before old age, but the way people wept, wailed and blubbered was cringeworthy and embarrassing.

I also agree with the posters who say drunk driver, no seat belt, too fast as the reason for her death.
yes ummm, I also said that I used the phrase "cut and shut" as a euphemism, do you have a dictionary? My link explains about the car that's all. Jeez ummmm I bet you are a nightmare socially, do you pick semantic holes and deliberately not understand everything?
The Peoples' Princess has a better ring to it than The Peoples' Brood-mare don't ya think?
I think Diana was a good mother but I don't think she was a particularly nice person.

I think Camilla is much nicer and far more dignified.

/// The driver should have made sure that his passengers were wearing seat belts at all times! ///

Surely as the Di's security officer, that responsibility should have been in Trevor Rees-Jones court.
Strange how we have not heard much from him since the accident, and didn't a key witness strangely commit suicide so soon afterwards?

Mallyj, I agree. It's ridiculous how people will turn up to present flowers to someone they never knew. The sea of flowers after Diana's death was crazy.
A little boy drowned near here a few years ago. There was a wall of flowers and people brought their children to pay respect to him. They never knew him; he was here on a week's holiday.
TTT - Why would you use an euphemism? It's not like it's hard to type CAT B write off.

I'm not a nightmare socially. I go out for the craic...not debates!
A good mother, NoMercy?
I know footage has been shown recently of her at a theme park with the boys, and hugging them too, but I doubt anyone in the royal family is a mother in the true sense of the word.

I doubt she ever wiped bums or snotty noses, Mopped up vomit or put plasters on cuts. Or even many of the more pleasant things parents do.

More like the nanny taking them in to say “goodnight”. If she was at home, of course!
Jo...I just think it's human nature. People get affected emotionally by others pain.
Jo.....I too ma mystified and I can only explain this on the basis of mass hysteria.
When I was in the UK in the 60's and 70's.....there entered two main exhibitionary phenomenon:
The stork, 8 feet high in the garden "Tarquin arrived today weight 8lbs, mother doing well"..........bit OTT?
Then photograph on trees and lamposts " Tracie is 18 today" and a photoprint of "Tracy".
Accident site with dead flowers unmoved for months.

I just don't understand this degree of exhibitionism.
It's equivalent of fans throwing underwear at the likes of Tom Jones or the Beatles...

Some people were obsessed with Diana.
"Incidentally, why did Wills get downgraded from Prince to Duke when he married? I know he is still a prince, but why is he always referred to as Duke of ... Sorry if I'm going off-topic."

He didn't. He simply took on another title by which he is known. Rather like Prince Phillip being known as the Duke of Edinburgh.

“It was a tragic accident, the whole World lost 'The Peoples Princess’ how we've survived this long afterwards I just don't know.”

I tend to agree with Balders. Whilst Diana’s death was tragic (and almost certainly avoidable) and not something I’d wish on anybody, the day she died was the day I believed half the UK lost its marbles. It saw the beginning of the demonstrations of third-party public grief which seem to prevail today. Wailing and weeping is not what we do in the UK, especially when it’s for somebody we don’t know. Had Diana lived she would not be in the limelight now. She would probably be a reclusive figure, wheeled out on the odd occasion her presence was deemed necessary (involving her sons). She was a manipulative woman who knew exactly what she was getting into when she married the Prince of Wales and still chose to do so despite the obvious downsides.

Back to the question – her death was more “misadventure” than an accident. Completely avoidable and not prevented by those around her charged with her safety. If anyone (especially “The Duke of Fuggin’ Edinburgh”) wanted her done in there were far more reliable ways of achieving it. This year should see the last of the ridiculous press and other media coverage of the event. Enough is enough.
bigbad, how do you know that? Diana was unconventional compared to the rest of the Royal Family and she was also a Nanny herself before she married into The Firm.
NJ, we'll probably have more of the same at the 30th, 40th anniversary.
I don’t, NoMercy, but then neither do you know that she was a good mother.
I don’t believe that any member of the royal family is a ‘hands on’ parent.
Besides which, the amount of time she spent being filmed/photographed shows that she couldn’t have spent that much time with her children. Royal duties may have been necessary, but the time spent in the gym/on yachts/being with various ‘romantic’ interests was the time she chose not to be with her children.
I believe that at the time of her death, she and Dodi Fayed had been on holiday together for a couple of weeks.
(I assume) The boys wouldn’t have been at school at the end of August, and therefore she chose her latest bloke over her kids!
Totally agree with NoM @ 09.46.
I also think it is blindingly obvious that Charles and Camilla really love each other.
And NoM is that your rescue I see in your avatar?
Yes, that's Feebs. :-)
