I have said on here that my daughter is a 'weed' user. I am trying to get an idea as to how she compares with other users. She gets through 4 £20 'deals' a week so £80 a week.
She says that it is a normal amount! I would like any opinion as to if that is near correct or not.

Eddie whatever our differences I really feel for you. My brother went through similar hell and so did a close friend. Sometimes we cannot help the addict, but we can all help the people like yourself who are in a cleft stick. The first priority is your Grandchildren, and you are in a better position to judge that than any of us on here. I am sure that we all know why you are reluctant to bring down the Social Services on your daughter and I for one do not blame you. Just keep doing your best Eddie but remember that making yourself ill or putting your self under financial strain will eventually impact on them anyway. Do not envy your position Eddie but I do applaud your fortitude. I also hope that you may find some solace in the replies from we "Bankers"

^ they stay over with us at least 2 days a week. She is a better now but for a whole year they were only with her for 61 nights out of 365, the rest of the time they were with us.
Mate I feel for you, you have to get her of this dope habit, for her, and the kids. That sort of usage will stew the brains. Good luck.
Big ask on you Eddie.....respect, and to your other half. The kids are alright.
I get that you are very reluctant to involve Social services but had you considered getting legal advice about getting guardianship of the children?
For this sake of the children social services should be contacted. ( but that's easy for me to say )
I spoke with a 'user' this evening, he buys a £10 only after he has funds to do so.
Will not share what he said about your daughters 'habit'
I'd be surprised if the school don't have an inkling anyway....

I am 67 and my wife is 63 and disabled. We are not going to be able to go on looking after them for ever. We have 5 children and 12 grandchildren in total! I have also now had 3 epileptic episodes in 4 years so I am now unable to drive until I have gone 12 months without a seizure.
Eddie do her siblings not get involved? Surely they can help.
OH Eddie. I do hope you can get this sorted.. I'm the same age and we had the grandkids over the summer holidays... It's great but it does drain you...I'm fit (ish)and healthy, don't know how you manage to do it on a long term basis. My Daughter is a single parent with 3 children and I know if she was using they would know. It's surely not good for them. This has made me sad
how do the siblings get on with the 'user'?
Are they in any position to help out?

I know you love your daughter and grandkids, but there comes a time when you really must bite the bullet.
I understand you're probably not in a situation to have the children full time but you seem to be having them more than their mother.

Would she sign over the family allowance to you?
Just a thought, although this situation is intolerable and clearly needs to change I would be super wary of involving Social Services, as I doubt they would sanction you having the kids full time given your ages and state of health and the last thing you need is for them to be taken into care. If you have a largish family could you not have a family meeting and organise a strategy that doesn't rest solely with you and then maybe organise a non Social Services led intervention. I really wouldn't get them involved, they'll cause more trouble than ever they solve.
I agree Kva..if siblings will cooperate..however that may not be an option.. not all families see things in the same light or with the same level of tolerance
Kval...Social Services can be really good. We only hear the bad stories. This isn't a child protection issue as the kids have Eddie and his wife and Eddie hasn't mentioned any worry about their care. They could arrange counselling for her drug habit.
I am assuming that she spends the tax credits and child benefit on drugs too, and that last year when the children were with you for all that time did you or her get the benefits?
Eddie, the children cannot keep living with their mother, its cruel and they will grow up resenting her and in the end you.

Her kids really love her , they have no idea of her habit. Things have improved from a few months back when she hardly saw her kids for days on end. The other siblings do help out a bit but they have their hands full with their own children. In face there is resentment that her 3 kids get so big a share of 'Grandparent time' and feel the others miss out. Then again one of her siblings is so disgusted with her drug habit he refuses to speak to her.
On the good side my daughter has a job in the school kitchens starting when school returns in September. Both I and my wife have repeatedly told her that her drug habit can not continue once she starts work. The opportunity is too good to jeopardise, a job that fits in with the kids school time and holidays.
I have registered a Crimestoppers ID and had already reported two of her previous drug dealers anonymously, both have stopped supplying! I am getting information on the dealer she uses now, I have enough to report him but I am trying to find out who the next one up the supply chain is so I can get rid of him as well.
I am hoping that if and when the current dealer goes under she will have the brains to take the hint and get out of the habit
( as the Nun said to the Vicar! )
a very difficult and sad/ worrying time... have everything crossed that she will see the light..for herself as much as the kiddies..she is lucky to have you and wife Eddie xx
She will always find a dealer .
Yes annea she will and its only a matter of time before she moves on to 'harder' stuff!
