What are the differences between a Class AB & Class D amplifier? & which is better for running a Vibe Space 4 x 5" speaker set-up? It's currently using a Vibe Slick 4 amplifier (class AB).

The various classes of amplifier (A, B, A/B, etc), denote how the output transistors are configured, and as such give no indication of the performance (quality) of the amp.

See this link for a brief explanation of some classes, which includes circuit diagrams of the output transistor arrangement.

The most important considerations in selecting a car amplifier are the power output, the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) – normally expressed as a percentage, and the sound quality when matched to your speakers.
