....... for speaking the truth while living in Western 'civilized' countries and no politician has been prepared to speak out against this obscenity;
"I am in fundamental disagreement with these left-wing people who do everything to dissociate fundamentalism from Islam. Islam has been radicalized for fifty years. On the *** side, there was Imam Khomeini and his Islamic revolution. In the Sunni world, there was Saudi Arabia, which used its immense resources to finance the spread of this fanaticism of Wahhabism. But this historical evolution took place within Islam and not outside. When the people of the Islamic State attack, they do it by saying 'Allahu Akbar.' So how can we then say that this has nothing to do with Islam? It must be stopped."

Sir Salman Rushdie, author of the novel The Satanic Verses, who has been hunted to be killed by Muslim extremists for nearly 30 years.

Why do you?
Hunted for 30 years? To be killed? Not much cop as assassins then, it would seem..........................
Wasn't his fatwa recently lifted? If not then did he as an adult not know what calling the muslims holy book satanic going to lead to? This is a group who have followers such as previous terrorists kidnapping and killing westerners just for being westerners, hijacking and blowing up airlines.

Either he is very stupid, has his "Marbles" bigger then chuck norris' and king kongs combined or knew that the british would fall over themselves to protect him at the tax payers cost

Personally I'd keep any ill feelings or any anger inducing publications, interviews and anything public so i can go about my normal day to day activities without worrying about being decapitated, being put in a cage and submerged in a pool or put in a car and blew up.
The Iranian govt dropped their support for the call to kill him almost 20 years ago.

I don't, I do everything I can to bring it to the attention of everyone I can, hence the OP
Time of the month i'm guessing

Who is that question aimed at?
Everyone but Khandro I think Mamya.
We all have our obsessions - it would appear that the majority of AB'ers do not share yours.
If a bunch of fanatics claim a relationship with a particular religion, then it doesn't imply that, that particular religion accepts a relationship with that bunch of fanatics.

i.e. If A implies B it doesn't follow that B implies A.
Brevity and clear-thinking seemingly not an attribute, of yours and the odious scum with which you appear concerned.
"If a bunch of fanatics claim a relationship with a particular religion, then it doesn't imply that, that particular religion accepts a relationship with that bunch of fanatics."

If that particular religion was to distance itself at every opportunity that position might firm up a bit.
It's the deafening silence from 'holy men of peace' unless their followers have vapourised themselves and innocents that raises eyebrows and questions.

The government of Iran did not place the fatwa and has no authority to remove it. It was issued in 1989 by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The Iranian government backed the fatwa until 1998, when the succeeding government of Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said it no longer supported the killing of Rushdie However, the fatwa remains in place.
He has had to live under police protection for 30 years 24/7 since then, for speaking the truth.

Thirdamigo; That's the way boy, you keep you head down and don't worry about what is happening around you, after all, it's nothing to do with you is it?

Ignorant way of thinking, would you raise your voice against a large group of psychotic killers who would target you, your family and buisness if you said anything against them?

OF COURSE NOT! And why should anyone else risk their lives just to appease you?

I'd like to think I would not be as cowardly as you, but I may be wrong.

OG, // If A implies B it doesn't follow that B implies A.//
You surprise me; a Muslim woman once expressed a similar sentiment to the very uncowardly Bridget Gabriel

I'm afraid you would appear to be correct v_e.
When I hear people say things as above; "Personally I'd keep any ill feelings or any anger inducing publications, interviews and anything public so i can go about my normal day to day activities without worrying about being decapitated, being put in a cage and submerged in a pool or put in a car and blew [sic] up."

I think of one of the more famous quotes to come out of the police state that was Nazi Germany attributed to Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

"First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the socialists
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a socialist.
Then they came for Jews,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."
backward ideology that has h, held their countries back for millennia and will continue to do so, god's will and all that..lethargy i call it.
Don't buy into this lie of sterotyping people on the basis of race, colour or creed.
There are those who seek to do good to others and those who seek to do evil.
It's the only fair way to judge individuals. All 7 billion of us.
//Don't buy into this lie of sterotyping people on the basis of race, colour or creed. //

Indeed. However, culture is something else entirely.
