Recently I have had aches and pains in my lower legs. I take a low dosage of statins, that have remained the same for 3 years. Any idea what it can be ?

Not enough information re. pain.
What do you mean by recently?
Both legs? Do you mean the muscles at the back of the lower legs(calf)?
Are the pains brought on by exercise and relieved by rest?
What tablets are you taking for any ongoing medical problems?

Thanks Sqad.

By pain I mean aching, from the knees downward, mostly the calves, on both legs. Its most apparent early in the morning, although it sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night. Not any worse after exercise, as far as I can see.

I am on ::

Metformin 1000mg
Glicazide 80mg
Provastin 10mg
Thanks mikey.....nothing sinister comes to mind.
My first thought was have you been doing some unusual physical exercise recently e.g digging the garden or extra walking?
I am afraid it is Ibuprofen and monitoring the situation at the moment.
Question Author
Sqad.....thanks....no, no special sudden addiction to exercise !

The pain reminds me of when I was first put on statins, at 40mg per day. I complained to the Doc, and he lowered the dosage to 10mg, and the pain went away.

I do have a faulty aorta valve that has been recently diagnosed.

I will keep taking the tablets....in the past I have been using aspirin, but will switch to Ibuprofen.
