My daughter went to Legoland with grandson on Monday, and booked in to the nearest T/L for one night.

I thought I would treat her with a little surprise, and pay the bill, but their phone number was not on the web-site, and had to phone their general customer enquirers, for the number at at 13p a minute + server.

When I phoned the T/L, that was again 13p + a minute, and I had to keep repeating over & over again my request, because his English was so bad, and it took ages.

Why do they charge so much for just wanting to ask for a request or book a room?

Yes, it's a problem with a lot of companies. I think it must prvide quite an income stream. It's partclarly annoying when you pay for a call and then have to listen to 2 or 3 minutes of prerecorded stuff telling you about their website or great offers
do not get me started on having to phone a company and listen to the pre-recorded stuff about their web-site, especially when afore-mentioned web-site says that you need to phone about your specific requirement.
I use this site a lot:

I would have used the freephone number to call Travelodge
A Freephone number for Travelodge: 0800 4080797
