Could be either...depends upon what you mean by flexible , rigid and how much fluid there is..........usually however.......flexible.

Thank you. Judging by her weight gain there is only about 4l at the moment.
Who are we talking about.......and what are we talking about?
Can you give me a quick touch of diagnosis?
I'm off to bed now Eccles, but will get back to your thread in the morning.

THank you.

Liver damage, extent unknown, ascites previously treated by a drain.
Eccles, OK thanks ....that makes sense as liver disease is the commonest cause of ascites and if drained before, then it sounds as though it may need draining again.
I will presume that the "liver disease" that you mention is not due to malignancy which would put a different slight on your question....but it sounds very unlikely.
Question Author
Again, thank you. No malignancy as far as I am aware, she is cagey though.
Ascites is usually a consequence of heart insufficiency (great circle of circulation disorder type) or liver failure (often when it's cirrhosis/chronic hepatitis/cancer). It's not connected with abdomen type but really depends on age, cardiovascular system condition and other risk factors such as high weight, smoking, previous heart attacks or inborn malignancies.
