Traditional taxidermy techniques don't work very well on humans (the skin goes very leathery; in other mammals this is hidden by their fur, apparently). Perhaps you are thinking of "plastination", as seen in the "Body Worlds" museums?

I am unsure if taxidermy has been applied to (human) cadavers but embalming is well known although mostly limited to heads of state, revolutionary leaders, etc. - maybe that is what your son really has in mind ?
