I'm not sure if this is old news or not but the Telegraph has reported that the sample of moonrock given the Holland by Neil Armstrong in 1969 hàs turned out to be fake. Why would they do this as it wouldn't take much to authenticate it? It just gives more fuel to the conspiracy theorists.

We did go to the moon but here's the reason we never went back, and if you hate conspiracy theories than this is going to blow your mind

The 2009 Telegraph article says moonrock samples were given to 100 countries. If all turned out to be fakes then there would be a lot of questions to answer, but if all or most of the others are genuine moonrock then this was either an admin error or they simply had run out of genuine pieces- after all how many samples did they pick up and they wouldn't give them all away- they'd want to keep most in US labs/museums
Seems they would of become suspicious right away when they realised it wasn't made of cheese.

you make a depression in a microscope slide put ya moon rock ( little bit) in the depression and stick a cover slip over it - sealing it

one of the spessies given to Cambridge in the late sixties was handed around at dindins at a college
and when it was re examined the next day - the speck of moon dust had - - gone !
oops
(and joined the dust on the college dining hall floor)
BBC 2 Horizon made a program a while ago on how you'd go about faking moon rock only to conclude that it would be easier to go there and get some. So if it is fake it's a very poor attempt. There are many samples all over the world and it would not take much of a geologist to identify a fake.
