Some things on a car are mileage-dependent, some are age-dependent; in your case neither are excessive. I would, like you, contact Audi. For the cost of a stamp (or free email) you might get a sympathetic response but I wouldn't be over-optimistic.
People expect better quality from audi cars and they willingly pay more for a quality marque so Q1 no I wouldnt expect that item to fail so soon and Q2 I would be complaining too.
No such problems with my austin maxi ;O)

when I removed the door Card Bhj, my first thought was the cable, you can only see this when the Regulator is removed, it's held on place by 3 Tox screws, as soo as that was removed the cable was there to be see, it's advisable to check the Plastic COGS ( Male / Female) as these can get worn, but not on that age of car, I have sent an email to the UK HQ, I will see how they respond, I have obviously kept the broke length of metal cable, but again, this cable being metal it should have lasted longer, this is where my concern lies.

Quoi, the maxi was not a very well liked car but they were a workhorse., I've repaired them but never owned one.

An Update from Audi, they agreed with my comments regards the Age / Mileage of this car & the Regulator should have lasted longer than four years, the part is going to be replaced as a Good Will Gesture, if you research & get your facts , you will succeed.
Good for you, TWR and thanks for letting us know the outcome (not everybody can be bothered).
It may also be the case that they didn't want to enter into a protracted correspondence with you for whatever reason.

In any case it's a result.

It was the case of a " A quality Part Douglas" this part was not one of them.
I always look online to see if it's a common problem. We have a VW Jetta, '58 plate, the ESP light came on permanently and our local garage said it would be around £250 to fix whatever problem it was indicating. On line I found that it was a known fault and that VW were fixing it for free but only if you approached them, it wasn't a general recall. Always worth a try!

I will research this issue Zebo no matter what the issue is, if I'm wrong I will not pursue, If I'm right I will.
