Well done England Ladies, great match well won. The Captain said this weekend that they seem able to find a way to win. Well they did that alright. World Champions . Marvelous to watch.

Agree togo, it was a good game, I think India lost it rather than England won it, but they hung on in there and deserved the victory.

Great stuff the last half hour Saint. I thought we were off the pace batting and India looked certs after the first 30 overs. What a bowling and fielding performance in the end. :))
Super victory. Question: does the lack of celebration and response on here demonstrate the general lack of sporting interest in the country?
Discuss.
Sorry. The lack of interest in women's sport, was the subject.

Not for me Jourdain I also watched the England footie ladies beat the Spanish. Great stuff. Perhaps we should get them to give a few tips to the men. .......I was very careful that there was not a typo in the word after few.
Togo ........... :o) One of my daughters won the UK pentathlon - no one interested. Equivalent lad was all over the papers and local TV.
this might just be a breakthrough for women's cricket, given that the men fell over last time they were going for a trophy. The fact that cricket is at last going back on terrestrial TV may help too.

Thing is Jourdain, that sort of treatment makes the girls more determined. I have a daughter and younger sisters and do know.
Lord's was packed, so people are interested in women's sport, including cricket. I noticed the members' balcony was quite empty, but I wasn't surprised by that.

Great win by England Women.
You're right, Togo. She is now a very successful, determined (and also glamorous) businesswoman. She still goes to the gym and (aged 40) plays in the first team for a netball team in Divison 1. I suppose it's me, remembering ringing the local press and TV. I had worked so hard coaching and taxiing - and they just weren't interested. The lad who got the glory lived 3 miles away. It was all such hard work, but I am so happy that women's sport is at last being recognised. :)

Way to go Jourdain....... Where does she live? (&_*)
It was a fantastic, nail-biting, finish to what had been a match where a lot of the participants (on both sides) seemed a little overawed by the occasion.

I've watched several of the matches as the tournament has progressed (not just the England ones either) and been very impressed by the standards of many of the players. They lack the sheer physicality of their male counterparts (especially in the quicker bowling), but the skill and talent have been plain to see.

I also have to say that (in my experience anyway), women's international matches are much more entertaining to attend than men's - the crowds are more relaxed and the whole day is usually a lot of fun.
