Hi, I am trying to open a .xlr file in Windows 10. I have tried sevreal apps, including notepad, wordpad, microsoft word viewer and Adobe Acrobat .... but all that appears are pages of gobbledegook. The original file was compiled as a spreadsheet possibly by Microsoft works and is a large catalogue of CDs and composers. Can anyone help before I go bald tearing my hair out ? Thanks

Thank you for your prompt replies Lie-in-King and Old Geezer. I will now study the contents of both links and report back, hopefully, with good news.

Progress report: zamzar are going to convert the .xlr to .pdf and email the result to me. If that does not work, I will try the other suggestions.

I am very happy to say that the whole file has now arrived by email from zamzar in .pdf format and is just perfect ! Thanks again. You guys are brilliant x x

Hi again. I am now having one more problem trying to open a .wks file which was compiled on an old PC 15 years ago. I think it may have been a spreadsheet. I have contacted zamzar.com who tried to convert it to .rtf and .pdf but neither was successful. Any further help would be much appreciated. Thank you
Question Author
zamzar have now managed to convert the .wks file to .xlsm.
The file shows type: microsoft office excel 2007 macro.enabled workbook. I have an HP laptop with windows 10 and it is unable to open this file.
Hi jazzgirl - the following link should be able to convert that file to a PDF -

https://online2pdf.com/convert-xlsm-to-pdf
Do you have Excel installed, Microsoft do a free Excel file viewer, not sure if it works for macro enabled sheets though (Indiubt that a Works spreadsheet would have had macros though)
I doubt... typing on the phone with no glasses :-(
