I saw Madonna about 4 years ago in Hyde Park and she was awful, it was self indulgent rubbish!
She didn't perform many of her big hits and those that she did sing were changed out of all recognition, one that springs to mind is 'Like a Virgin', it was just unrecognisable!
I went away from there feeling cheated, she didn't even know where she was, she said something like 'Hello Paris' ....... After that night I cannot listen to her anymore, she burst my bubble lol.

Bigbad - I certainly don't regard musicians as 'idols' - I have met far too many of them to be in awe any more.

But I think the term is appropriate for a lot of music fans, who have, and still do see their nusical heroes as idols - even though it is not an appropriate term for me personally.
I am not sure whether the following counts, but I have seen Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras live on stage over the years, and for the record, they were all more magnificent than I could ever have hoped for.
Mikey - if you are a fan, and you paid, and you enjoyed it, then it counts.
Saw U2 in the 90's at Roundhay Park in Leeds and they were absolute pants. I obviously caught them in their experimental Zooropa/Achtung Baby albums era and it was a massive let down.
For an encore, we had Bono, on his own, dressed as the Devil singing Can't Help Falling In Love With You in the style of Elvis.

It was drivel.
Once again ChillDoubt - one man's cutting-edge invention is another man's drivel - t'was ever thus.
Lol @ Baldric 17:25. :))

Promise I have seen many, including the Beatles, and Stones in the 60s. But in no particular order the ones that stick are,

Cream. Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames. Geno Washington. James Brown. Charlie and Inez Fox. Family. Zoot Money and the Big Roll Band. Spencer Davies Group. Them. Pretty Things. Earth Wind Fire. Carlos Santana. Joe Cocker. Van Morrison(without Them) Public Image Ltd. Mac Lads. Stranglers. Stone Roses. Big Audio Dynamite. many more... that was top of my head stuff.
I assume you aren't saying you were disappointed with all those, Togo.
cor Togo, Cream!! me, jealous? yes, a lot !!

you lucky, lucky thing!
You've just reminded me Togo with a name there. Worst concert I've seen was by my idol, Van Morrison. What a let down - the only time he moved was to turn round for a drink of water; no intro to records, no 'thank you's, nowt. But Georgie Fame was on keyboards for him and did a 30 minute slot himself whan Van went for a lie down. He was brilliant.

Best gig was Barclay James Harvest with full orchestra; absolutely awesome
No FF, I don't do negative reviews. All were memorable. Alba, I got "off" with Ginger Bakers girlfriend as well. They were resident at the Place in Hanley and I was a regular. Heavy schitt at the time. He was addicted even then and was connected with real heavies. I was 17 and fearless.(stupid)
Thing is Capito when he fronted Them as a young man, he was electric on acid.
