I always pay the balance in full.
Having had a quick look it seems Sainsburys, Tesco and the larger shop only give rewards worth having if the cards are used in their stores.
Amex - not all shop accepts them.
Anyone know of a card that can be used generally that offers decent rewards?

Marks and Spencer give you rewards/points for use in their stores AND elsewhere. The rewards for use in M and S are a lot more generous than those for other purchases.
Barclaycard gives 0.5% cash back Sue.
Marks rewards can only be used in Marks stores, not elsewhere, although you can use them for anything they sell including groceries and beauty products made by others but sold in Marks.
oh did you mean that if you shop in places other than marks and use their card you get points too? yes you do and John Lewis do the same...again though the rewards can only be spent in John Lewis or Waitrose.
Tesco credit cards give you points for using it elsewhere but they can only be spent in store or through the rewards scheme....There are some deals though, I get my RAC renewal every year with Tesco points.
If you like to travel, Tesco points an be converted to Airmiles.
Ditto Amex.
