I have had pain in the calf muscle at the back of my lower right leg , since two weeks now .
Sometimes it radiates up the right side to my hips .
I don't feel it when I am sitting down - only when I get up and stand and walk .

After examining me the Doctor doesn't think it's anything to worry about .

Anyone had similar experience ?

Are you Andy Murray in disguise?
your doctor shoulda told you it sounds like sciatica - quite painful and takes some time to subside

Unlike you to be so verbose Sqad!
Sqad left speechless.
LOL......don't know what happened.

"Anyone had similar experience ?"
Well I haven't but i suppose someone may have had.

Any idea what might be the cause of the symptoms , sqad ?
Leg pain can have a myriad of causes, we can only surmise the GP has ruled out anything that needs immediate investigation.

Sciatica is one possibility as JJ says.
Little more information.
Does the pain come on when you walk and ease off and go at rest?
Is the muscle swollen?
Are you having any medication for any underlying medical problems?
Question Author
Yes that's right re the pain

The gp measured my legs and said that in fact the other leg was slightly bigger .
She did not say the problem leg was swollen

I have lymphoedema apparently

I'm on medication for BP and I take a statin and clopidogrel
Question Author
Actually the pain does not completely go
I just adjusted myself on the settee and felt a bit of pain ,although considerably less than when I'm walking
Well Bazile, that is more helpful as the problem seems to be either musculo-skeletal ( old age, wear and tear) or blood vessel blockage problem (as you clearly have a degree of cardiovascular problems) and from 1,000 miles away fro your good self my diagnosis would be the former.
I agree with your doctor that at the moment it is no big deal and probably sciatica from arthritis in you lower spine as hinted by Mamy.
Watch and wait.
