Agreed Jackdaw. A blast of decent hairspray and a whack on the head with the entire Encyclopaedia Brittanica 48 times is normally reasonably effective.

Lovely creatures. As long as they spin their webs and catch those annoying flies, and other bothersome buzzing things, they are welcome in my home anytime. When i first moved in here some 16 years ago, i told my son that it was odd as i hadn't seen a spider anywhere. My son, bless him, visited me a few days later with a jar containing about a dozen of all different flavours. He told me he'd caught most of them on garden walls and in the park. I let them all go as i needed house spiders.

allegedly during an average lifespan, a human will swallow 7 spiders whilst they (the human) is sleeping.
