In the past I have sent out Emails to various companies, and some present a number of distorted letters for one to decipher before one's email is accepted.

I have even had one where one has to tick the number of assorted pictures that contain cars others road signs etc.

Get it right apparently and one's email is accepted.

Thought these tests were there to prevent automatic mail, to prove there was a human being on the end of the communication.
I can never make head nor tail of those distorted letters, can understand why there are there tho.

Go for the 'hearing' option or whatever it's called.

Thanks all, it makes sense now, but it is still a b***s ache.
I agree, they can be painful - with limited vision I try and find an easier option.

Still as you say they have a purpose.
