I bought a North Ridge jacket from Go Outdoors today but when I got home it still had the security tag on it. Any recommendations for how to remove it? I don't really want to go plodding over to Go Outdoors again as it's on the far side of town.

Do you have a 'stitch-picker' ? maybe even a very fine pair of scissors that you could use to get between the fabric and the offending thing?

It's two bits of plastic attached to each other going through the zip of the pocket. The joining bit seems to be metal. I don't think a stitch picker would do the trick, Alba. Thank you though. x
I think there are some how-tos on youtube. I wouldn't tackle it by guessing. I had to throw the garment away when I tried it with scissors and brute force.
If it's going through the zip I'd take it back. Otherwise use a hammer.
Just go back and get them to remove it. Annoying yes, but better than damaging the jacket.

Express your displeasure and remind them of the time and fuel you have had to expend due to their carelessness if you wish and you may receive some form of recompense.
if you do take it back, remember to take your receipt with you cos I'll bet my bottom dollar the security alarm will sound.
I'd be most irked and do say to them about time/fuel etc due to their incompetence
I'm surprised that you got out of the shop with it still on!

Looks like a further visit to Go Outdoors. :-(

Mamya, that Wiki link is very confusing as it shows tags with ink cartridges. I don't think mine is an ink cartridge one. I didn't know there were ink cartridge ones. I think mine is a magnetic one.

I shall express my displeasure, Eccles. It's going to take me at least an hour to get there and back!

So am I Zebo but there were no beeps or anything. They must be worse than useless!
have had a thought (I know, it's dangerous for me)

Do you have a more local shop who might have this sort of thingy and could take it off for you?
If it's through the zip and you try to remove it yourself....there's a good chance that the zip will be damaged.
Take it to your nearest store who have device for removing security gadget. Just explain what happened and show them receipt

I would ring them up and ask what they are going to do about it. I wouldn't accept them saying bring it back.

Suggest a courier brings a replacement and takes away the offending one.

They won't agree, but they might recompense you in some way.
If only you knew some shop lifters :-D
The trouble is if you damage the jacket removing it, you have no come back. It would be ruined and they wouldn't replace it.
If it is a magnetised tag then get two magnets and runs them over the rage. Apparently it demagnetises it An allows for opening.
Nice to see you're shopping at a company that originated in Sheffield ,Tilly.
