doing a crossword today and realised I still get very confused with licence and license ,anyone else have this problem x

Permit and laxity are both nouns here so the answer is licence.

No, if talking on Wednesday 'this' can refer to the previous Monday. Next Monday would refer to Monday of the next week. To avoid ambiguity I would say 'this Monday coming'.

Emailed Sky yesterday to complain about Beth Rigby not pronouncing her 'ings' (gerunds). As in 'I was talkin to..' Encourage others to do the same. Drives me barmy.

In the example you quote 'talking' is not a gerund but a participle
