Angela's Ashes- The Musical

Passing the Opera House this morning I saw a billboard advertising this forthcoming show. I don't suppose it will be a bundle of laughs.
Can you think of a more unlikely work of literature that has been turned into a stage production?

Though I think I'll give Angela's Ashes a miss.....x

Cabaret the stage show was so sad and depressing compared to the film!

well what I saw of extracts of Les Mis in London - it was Les miserable - wouldn't want to see it in a million years

nor I wouldn't want to see Angela's Ashes after reading the book and seeing the film - altho I did enjoy the film - what music would make anybody's existence "musical"

I loved the book, although 'loved' isn't the right word. I can't imagine queuing up for tickets for a musical about it.

Oh, Conne.....far from miserable.....emotional....sad...happy and hilarious in parts.....Les Mis is just the best musical ever.....x

I believe the book was an exegesis of misery and poverty. I'll give the musical a miss.

I can't imagine a good musical out of Angela's Ashes.

But when you think of it The sound of music was about refugees, or people who were to become refugees, fleeing the Nazis.
Good goalie mentioned Crime + punishment, a young chap bludgeons an old woman. :-(
I probably shouldn't judge without having read the book or seen the film.

Very hard to imagine certain stories being made into musicals, what about a story of New York gangs stabbing and killing each other and all with a racist undertone. Do you think that would make a good musical?
