I have a Samsung GT-E1200i PAYG phone --just before switching off last night, I noticed an icon I hadn't seen before. Apparently it was the off-line mode.I hadn't selected it---how did it appear?

Either you inadvertently managed to go to Settings > Profiles and activate the Offline Profile or there's just been some sort of data corruption on your phone. That could occur for all sorts of reasons, such as a power surge while charging your phone, electrical interference when you've put your phone down on top of your print or next to your TV or monitor, or even from radiation from solar activity on the sun's surface.

Thanks Buenchico---We did have a power cut in the district earlier this week, which was thought to have been caused by a power surge from a thunder strike. It would certainly appear that was the cause. Thanks again
