it's probably the thermostat kicking in
Do they run off separate thermostats ? If so one could have failed.
Clicking could be anything. Perhaps a pump's having issues. Probably worth getting an engineer to look at it.
I gave too short an answer there, sorry, I got distracted, sometimes if it has been defrosted or cleaned it clicks to bring back up to the coldness you need, does it click when door has just been closed, like O-G says, it could be problem with pump, how long have you had it, maybe it's time for a new one.

we`ve had fridge /freezer 7 maybe 8 yrs.Thanks for the answers but think its time for new one.
I think it is tony, I replaced mine last year, my sister said I had it too long at 9 years - she was worried about it being a fire hazard
