...it's how we dispose of our waste. NASA scientists have taken samples from all the worlds oceans and every sample contained minute traces of chemicals used in the manufacture of shower gel. Those chemicals are harmful to all sea life, and if we continue to dispose of the waste into the oceans it will have a catastrophic effect on that environment.

It's possible to be worried about both at once.
The feminisation of the fish stocks has been noted by scientists for some time now. (Read it yonks ago so don't have a link)

They said that it was due to the hormone pills being taken and flushed into the water system via the loo.

Everything we do has an effect on the environment and short of stringent global birth control and a backward step in the endustrialisation of the world (or perhaps a giant leap forward!!) we will never do enough to 'save the planet'.

All we can do is hope to extend our tenure for as long as possible.
You're worried about the way we are polluting the planet, 10C...so am I.....very worried.....and that pollution is contributing to the changes in our climate.....
Yes, Earth's climate has always fluctuated.......but now it involves new factors....human activity......and we are so bad at controlling our activities if it doesn't suit us......x
As other of said: "why not both?"

After all, if the seas rises to swallow the land - and happens to be poisonous - then that's twice as bad!

Where did you see the story btw 10Cst? Sounds interesting.
I think 10CS is probably referring to microbeads.

As I keep on saying (and which everybody seems to ignore) "climate change", waste disposal, global warming (does that still exist?), and all this other cobblers are but nothing. It is population growth which will see the end of mankind as we know it. All the rest is irrelevant.
With all the conflicting reports I don’t know if climate change is happening or not but if it is, unless we’re prepared to change our way of life very drastically – which none of us really are - worrying won’t help. All we’re doing right now is delaying the inevitable – if it is inevitable – but I have my doubts that it is.
Yes, it is possible to cobble together all sorts of data to 'pass the buck'.
I agree, NJ, and have seen you post that view before; but then, as now, everyone ignores it! It's certainly population growth that will do for us in the UK, as our infrastructure and services collapse under the weight of more and more and more people. As I have said before, there are houses being built on three sides of my village: 50 to the north, 50 to the south, and they've almost completed the showhome for another 90 behind the school. Similar building in nearby villages, too. Very depressing, especially as I've heard politicians say that immigration has nothing to do with the housing shortage. The 3 million who settled here in the 13 years of the last Labour government must be living somewhere....
