Friday. Another hot day on it's way. A bit cool at the moment. Long may it last.

Having met my friends yesterday, we had a lovely day, they were impressed with lunch at the TA. Then took them for a tour, along country roads that give some of the best views of this beautiful county. They were impressed enough to want to come back! :o} They are lovely people.

Preparations for the Tall Ships today. All go innit!

Have a happy day everyone.

Very hot here yesterday, fat too hot for me. I had every window in the house open all night and I still had to get my tower fan out of its winter hibernation.

I haven't turned my portable AC unit on yet, as it eats the lecky something awful.....but I might have to !

Question Author
Time to make a move.

Have a happy day everyone.

I'm used to it from service in hot countries mikey.
Boaty...do you have any tips on how to cool a house down at night ?
All you active people inspired me to go and cut the grass before it gets too hot! Very pleasant out in the cool grass in my pj's. a lovely hour or so.
Question Author
Not really mate. In hot countries the houses are built with plenty of airflow, stone floors etc. walls have airways built into them, like grids made of bricks, open space between the walls and roof. Here it's open widows and fans I'm afraid mate.
Thanks....I shall just carry on what I am already doing then Boaty !
It might even help to keep windows, blinds and curtains closed on the side of the house where the sun is, and then open as the air gets cooler in the evening. That's what they do in the hotter parts of South Africa. Keep your fan on too, of course.

Morning, everyone, by the way :)
Question Author
Sorry mate, that's all you can do.

Morning zebo xxx Good girl! :o} I've just been putting the washing out on the line. A wee breeze is keeping the temperature down a bit. It going to get hot later. I've got some real ales chilling for fuel while I'm doing the ironing this afternoon. ;o}
Question Author
Morning jo xxx You get better air flow if you leave the windows open.
Ok. Our houses and furnishings aren't meant for this weather, are they? I feel too warm just looking at my sofa and armchairs.
Question Author
Indeed jo. Keep the curtains closed, but have the windows open a wee bit to allow air flow. Still air heats up rapidly.
In addition to closed curtains and open windows we also keep the bedroom doors open to let air circulate, needs wedges to stop slamming. We used to have those cheap reeded roll up blinds and they were very effective when we lived in hotter climes.
Good morning everyone.. another lovely day to enjoy.
