SNAP!!!!!
I get that and think it's a weed (although weeds are plants!). I think it's speedwell
weeds are just plants growing in the wrong places
It is a weed
Question Author
Speedwell leaves don't look as scalloped as my plant/weed.

I know some horticulture lecturers - so will ask them next time I see them if AB doesn't come up trumps!
It's not speedwell. It looks like dead white nettle, which is herbal.
dead nettle is a tall plant though like stinging nettle, this looks like a ground cover plant - not that I've been able to open the link after the first time.
Question Author
The nettle leaves are bigger and pointy - my leaves seem to be a scalloped half circle either side of the stem
Mrs Hymie has green fingers but I have developed a foolproof method of identifying weeds.

When attempting to pull the plant out of the ground – if it comes out easily (roots and all) it is not a weed, but a valuable plant. As a general rule, the easier it can be pulled out of the ground, the more expensive the plant.

Whereas, if no matter how hard you tug at the plant, it remains steadfast in the soil – it is a weed.

It might be this

but not sure - might have to wait and see if it flowers!

I'll compare it tomorrow if it doesn't rain again!
creeping speedwell
just had another thought ,the leaves look a bit like Nepeta a hanging basket plant
Question Author
Where its growing is directly under hanging baskets - but that might just be coincidence!
Looks like one of the speedwells to me, any flowers ?
Possibly annual or garden speedwell.
Question Author
I'll have another look today and see if there's flowers on any of the other bits.
I have found my reference pages of weeds etc
have a look at the Ground Ivy that is a form of Nepeta
