I noticed some of my lupins were wilting and when I looked closely saw they are infested with large greenfly, not your ordinary little greenfly but great big ones like I have never seen before and a grey-green colour the size of a cooked grain of pudding rice, what are these things has anyone else had them? they only seem to be on the lupins.

I pulled all my lupins up. Couldn't cope with the aphids.
Yep, sounds like the 'American Lupine Aphid'.
I think this is why you don't see so many lupines these days.

Thank you, I will try spraying them but they are close to the veg plot so will have to be careful, I might think about pulling them up if the first spray don't do it, I only grew them as a neighbour gave them to me, won't bother again.
They are a pain. Please don't spray them if they are in flower. The spray will kill pollinators.
