Getting A Passport

In an emergency how long does it take to get a passport?

As has been indicated above, you can renew a passport on the same day. However when the UK Passport Agency had their own website (rather than the far less helpful stuff that's replaced it on the Gov.uk website) it was stated that you couldn't get a first passport on the day of application.

I can't find that statement on the Gov.uk site but the list of fees for the One Day Premium service makes no mention of first passports. (The service also isn't available at al for child passports):

My daughter got hers about a month ago. She sent the application on a Monday and received it back on the Wednesday .. just 3 days. She did send it by Royal mail.. special delivery.

they tell you to do it about a year in advance dont they ?

deffo difference between lost passport and first passport
( and they really do ring bozos like me up and ask - dja know so and so you have asserted that you do)
