As an older person, I would like to investigate games on my iPad. I read recently that crosswords, Suduko etc are excellent for 'working the brain' but it's also good to have new and different challenges.
So what suggestions folks?
Nothing too difficult and something I can do on my own.
Thanks.

Just have a look in the Apple Store for games you might like. There are funny ones which rely on a bit of training to complete and more cerebral ones in the form of puzzles with clues and objects like how to get out of a darkened room.

Thanks Zac, good place to start.
You can play Scrabble against the computer.
As a 73 year old I am brave enough to confess that I like games like Candy Crush as well as Scrabble and Patience. Just enjoy a variety.
I have been playing a detective 'find the objects game' for the past 3 years, with different murder cases to solve, then on to the next case.

You start at first with the easy ones, as a trainee cop, and gradually work up, I am a chief investigator now :-), and it gives your brain exercise, in finding clues & objects to solve the cases, and its free.

Millions play it around the world, and you can even make friends with other players, like I have done, and I am 73yrs old.

As a beginner, I'd recommend two classics which provide a decent challenge but have very simple rules: Reversi (aka Othello) and Four In A Row (aka Connect 4).

Thanks 4c. Will have a look at them.
8-ball pool is free and very addictive!
i'd also say Candy Crush is very addictive, it is partly luck but also involves some spatial planning and you don't have to link it to Facebook or spend any money (I don't).
If you like puzzle games then have a look at downloading 100 doors or 100 floors, there is several to choose from and most of them are really good
I loved 'The Room' for iPad. I can't remember whether it was free or cost 99p, but a great game anyway.
I think I will have as look a some of those too.

Thanks. :o}
I've just got 100 Floors and Doors thanks to recs on this thread. I love things like this. I had a game on my old IPad which was based on wandering around an Escher-type landscape. That iPad has now departed and I can't remember the name of the game.
Monument Valley.
