I've just realised what is odd about the way DA speaks - it's so measured, as though she is on Just a Minute!!!

Some say 'measured', hellywelly4, others say 'she's a bit dim with a limited grasp of reality'.
She talks as though she assumes the listener is daft. Terribly patronising.
you can almost here the cogs ticking over can't you

Its not easy to agree with Ms Abbot at the present time, is it ?
hear lol
It's actually a common ploy amongst politicians of all parties - taught to them in 'media training'. You talk slowly but constantly, leaving no 'natural pauses' at the ends of sentences for an opponent or interviewer to butt in.

She's just not very good at it ...

[ for the avoidance of doubt, I think she's an appalling hypocrite, routinely patronises people who are actually much cleverer and better informed than her, and a serious liability to the Labour Party ]
She talks so and deliberate to give herself thinking time.

Obviously working well isn't it.

And, of course, her kids are at private school. No bog-standard comprehensive for our people's champion.
Naomi //She talks as though she assumes the listener is daft//

No, she talks as though the speaker is daft.
Did she think she was on radio 2.
This is where JC is letting the labour party supporters down, ban her from the media at least until the election is over, she is now an embarrassment to labour .
Nothing wrong with thinking before you speak; it is to be applauded. But if the thinking times is excessive one might conclude that the mind behind it isn't as fast as is ideal. I suspect lack of preparation is part of the issue, having to work out what is asked and what the right response is in "real time". Or maybe she doesn't sleep well.
Anne....have to agree with your there !

Interesting - all your replies are in a similar vein, so who actually are the people who like her? She got voted into parliament, how? She must appeal to quite a lot of people. Also interesting as I listen to Any Questions, is how rowdy the Labour supporters in the audience are.
She sends me to sleep.
Helly....and the Tory supporters in an Any Questions recording are never "rowdy" are they ? ( ! )
I like Diane Abbott although i can see why people might not. She shouldn't be in politics though. She is good with Portillo. And I'm not voing to question the intellect of a Cambridge graduate.
She was good (in a different way) with Jeremy Corbyn once!
Patronising is a good way to describe her !
