...was coming second in the pub quiz......well we think we did.....

One round was on spelling...20 words and we had to mark the 10 wrong ones......some folk marked the correct ones and scored nothing.....then the quiz master read out all 20 words which ended up with some teams scoring 15 out of 10.....still trying to get my head around that....mind you my one pint of G may have added to the confusion.....

He read the lyrics from some songs and we had to name the artist......have you any idea how rubbish some lyrics are when read out? We got one correct despite Dave trying to sing the songs in his deep voice......he stopped when the pub dog joined in.....

We got the Simpsons question right...there's always a Simpsons question, isn't there.....and our markers marked us incorrect....we had words.....

But it was a fun night.....and I came away with four galvanised tubs which were on their way to the tip so I'm happy..... :-)

I promise you, Chris....one pint...and nothing before I go......winning is everything.....

That's not to say I don't make up for it when I get home.... :-)
I'm rubbish at pub quizzes but I'm sure that I come up with better answers after a few pints
. . . or maybe that it's just that I don't care so much about geting them all wrong by then ;-)

When we go on our pub crawl find one with a quiz.....bet you're not useless......

I go to sleep after a few pints and my snoring really annoys the other quizzers........x
I used to love a pub quiz but I got fed up with people cheating via their mobile phones. It`s no fun anymore
" I'm rubbish at pub quizzes " hard to believe Chris ?

That's annoyed me at some quizzes, 237...so we don't return.....at this one it doesn't happen......partly because of the speed of the quiz master....and we all know each other and they're a good crowd..x

Indeed it is, Anne..... :-)
I usually try to avoid pubs with quiz nights (in much the same way as the word 'karaoke' on a poster outside a pub means that it definitely won't be my type of pub). However that's not prevented me from running plenty of pub quizzes myself in the past! [It must be a 'control' thing. I love setting the questions but I hate the frustration of not knowing the answers to questions set by someone else].

However I got roped into a team in a fantastic Irish pub in Ilford when I was working there for a week (joining a group of guys in the building trade, also staying there temporarily, whom I'd never met before). We did rather well, coming second out of over twenty treams.
I would like to get one of those phone signal blockers so that I can scupper the cheating team's plans
>>> " I'm rubbish at pub quizzes " hard to believe Chris ?

Not really. People on AB have often referred to my 'knowledge' and I constantly have to point out that, while I pride myself on having very good research skills (helping me to answer questions here), I actually 'know' extremely little.

The fact that I only watch an hour or two of telly most weeks, never including the soaps, doesn't help in pub quizzes. I also know next to nothing about pop music or sport, so that doesn't leave a lot for me to to have a go at in many pub quizzes!

I can see that, Chris.....I have set quizzes and really enjoy it.....I love these pub quizzes but get frustrated with myself when I don't know something....and even worse when I know I know but can't just get the answer out......x
Always on the tip of our tongues !!!!

Not sure it makes it that far with me some nights, Anne...x
